BEHIND THE STORY

My Mews

The quiet companions who helped shape Moon Path Keep.

Echo

MooMoo

Echo was inspired by my sweet MooMoo, a majestic male cat with soft, fluffy black fur. Though MooMoo is male, I chose to make Echo female as it felt right for the story. He has always been my emotional support kitty — calm, regal, and deeply comforting. If he had magical powers, I have no doubt they would involve a soothing “moon purr.”

Nimbus

Bubba

Nimbus carries the spirit of Bubba, a large and dignified twenty-pound cat with striking sea-green eyes. Bubba can most often be found lounging across a computer keyboard, which is how Nimbus naturally became the Keep’s resident technology master. Like Nimbus, Bubba has a calm, steady presence that brings quiet order to any space.

Thorne

Bear

Thorne was inspired by Bear — a sleek, spirited soul who is never far from mischief. Bear carries his beloved stuffed bunny with him wherever he goes, and I can easily imagine him turtle surfing in the lagoon with the same joyful energy Thorne brings to everything he does.

Rocky

Rocky

And then there’s Aura, who began with Rocky — a bold, bushy-tailed squirrel who lives in my backyard. Rocky is always testing the boundaries, running along the fence and keeping the boys entertained. Her fearless curiosity felt like the perfect spark for a stray who would one day breach the Keep itself.

These four companions — three cats and one very determined squirrel — quietly shaped the heart of Moon Path Keep in ways I never expected when I first began writing.
